House Wiring Assistance (HWA) Grant

Ministry of Social Development and Family Services

Supports first-time wiring or rewiring of dwelling houses, including homes affected by disasters. Assistance may cover materials only or both materials and labour. The grant is not available for commercial enterprises, and payment is made directly to the supplier or service provider.

Eligibility

Eligible citizens of Trinidad and Tobago
Poor and vulnerable persons, including senior citizens, persons with disabilities, unemployed persons and single-parent households
Applicants must satisfy the Standard Means Test, except victims of disaster
Applicants must own or have authorization to occupy the property
First-time wiring applicants must occupy an existing unwired abode or have new construction
Rewiring applies where existing electrical wiring is old, faulty or may pose a fire risk
Not available for commercial enterprises
